Bathing, Education, Electoral, Health, Local Services, Recycling, Sport & Recreation, Tourism and Travel are all themed topics on a new interactive mapping website launched by Wexford County Council.
Go to http://gis.wexford.ie or select the Interactive Maps icon on Wexford County Councils Web Site http://wexford.ie
Find your nearest beach, library, school and other local information with a few mouse clicks. See how many beaches are within 5km of your house – or a house you are think about buying.
You are considering a job starting in Main Street Enniscorthy. You are a keen swimmer and have two young children. With a few mouse clicks you can find 10 crèches, four primary schools and one public swimming pool within 1km of your potential new workplace.
Making this happen behind the scenes is a piece of software called Location Publisher – developed by IMGS. Location Publisher enables Wexford County Council to create and publish a range of interactive mapping themes, as well as create an instant “Show Map” link from any story or feature on the Wexford County Council website.
The software includes a “Find my nearest service” function which enables you to search for services with a certain distance of your point of interest.
Although there is already a lot of content on the site, over the coming months Wexford County Council will be adding more content and links to other features on the Wexford County Council website.
