You can now browse interactive maps on the Fingal County Council Website to view the locations and details of beaches and recycling centres in the Fingal area.
If you would like to find a beach in Fingal and check its water quality you can do this online with just a few mouse clicks. You can also find out where your nearest centre is for recycling garden waste, electrical items or any other household items.
Unlike many other mapping websites, you no not need any special plug-ins in your browser to access the site – and you can view the maps quickly even over slow dialup connections. The technology that enables this is IMGS Location Publisher.
Currently two mapping themes are available on the site – Bathing and Recycling. Fingal County Council plans to add more themes – including Planning in the near future. Using IMGS Location Publisher, Fingal County Council can add additional mapping themes without the need for specialist programming staff.
“We are delighted with the speed, and ease of use of the IMGS Location Publisher tool, and we have been very impressed with the level of support and commitment provided by IMGS” says Gerry Duane, Head of Information Technology at Fingal County Council.
Fingal County Council is one of the largest local authorities in Ireland, serving a population of over 200,000 citizens over an area of 173 square miles.
